FAQ
Questions about the font finder
What is a font finder?
A tool that tells you which fonts a website uses. Paste a link and Sitepeel lists every font on the page with its weights and sizes, and shows where each one appears.
How do I find out what font a website uses?
Paste the website’s link and press Find fonts. Each font is boxed on a picture of the page, with its weights, sizes and where to get it. Our guide shows other ways to identify fonts on a website.
How does the font finder work?
Sitepeel loads the page and reads the font that actually renders each piece of text, not just the first name in the CSS.
Can AI identify a font?
Image tools like WhatTheFont guess a font from a picture, and can be wrong. On a live website there’s no need to guess: the font finder reads the font that actually renders each piece of text. For a font in an image or logo, use an image font identifier.
How do I find a font with Inspect in Chrome?
Right-click the text, choose Inspect, then open the Computed tab. Rendered Fonts, at the bottom, shows the font that actually drew it. The font finder does this for every piece of text at once.
Can I try another font on the page?
Yes, with Swap fonts in the Sitepeel Chrome extension: it tries 2,100+ families on the live page. See website font preview.
Where can I get the font?
Google Fonts are free and linked directly. Adobe Fonts need a Creative Cloud plan. Self-hosted and custom fonts usually need a license from their foundry.
Is the font finder free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-in. To check fonts as you browse, hover any text with the Sitepeel Chrome extension.
Is it an alternative to WhatFont or Fonts Ninja?
Both are Chrome extensions: WhatFont names the font you hover, and Fonts Ninja lists the fonts on the page you have open. This works from a link in any browser, phones too, and lists every font at once with where to get it. See WhatFont alternatives compared.
